Master Vod Ka
Crane Hermit
Crane Hermit
Basic Information
Name: Vod Ka
Age: 51
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Personality: Vod follows a philosophy within which emphasizes combat, turmoil, and constantly challenging oneself. He believes that strength is power and that the martial arts are a reflection of that power. Strength and martial ability are the only things that he truely respects, to him there is nothing more noble then true warriors settling matters with their fists. While he is generally quick to resort to violence, allowing strength to decide the best course, he does not bully the weak or the downtrodden.
Background: Vod Ka was born to Alco Hal and Bo Oze, a wealthy couple in East City. His early life was typical, he recieved a traditional education and was regarded as a meek, timid, child by his peers. Vod originally had no interest in martial arts, but his parents were convinced by 'wandering master' that such skills were nessaccary. The master was a man named Shocktop, a wandering con-man that made a living off teaching 'martial arts' to the naive upper class. Shocktop quickly moved into the estate, and a seven year old Vod was more or less forced to learn under him. Chan was 64 at the time and, due to his teacher's age, Vod learned most of his skills and techniques from the ad-hoc collection of martial art manuals that Top brought with him. Master Top leeched off Vod's family for nine years, and was eventually ousted by a rival master. That master was a woman named Eva Clear, the reigning hermit of the Crane School
Disillusioned, the sixteen year old Vod attached himself under Master Clear and the two of them spent the better part of three decades traveling the world. The crane school became Vod's life, and he submerged himself in it's teachings. Decades worth of hard work, training, and challenges had chiseled a shy 16 year old boy into an eventual master of the Crane style. In their time together Clear and Vod challenged and defeated forty seven masters, with roughly a third of them actually deserving the title. Charlatan and conmen plagued the community, and Master Clear felt that it was a school's duty to protect the reputation of the martial art. It was one of these conmen who eventually killed Clear, a routine challenge that turned deadly when he revealed a hidden blade. Vod was fifty years old when he buried his master, and assumed the title.

Offensive Techniques
Crane School Stance #1 - Winds of the King:
Type: Physical Tech
Cost: 35% ki
One of the two fundamental stances practiced by the crane school. Winds of the King eschews offensive action in favor of defensive reaction. When adopting this stance the user gains a +3 their dodge score, however the user is unable to counterattack until they have successfully dodged three consecutive attacks. When counterattacking with a technique, the target receives a -3 to their dodge skill. This technique scales with transformations.
Crane School Secret Technique - Sekiha Tenkyoken:
Type: Energy Tech
Cost: 25% ki, 100% ki on a hit
The Crane School's hidden technique, developed by Vod shortly before he claimed mastery over the Crane School. All of the user's ki is focused into both hands and released as a massive ball of energy that obliterates everything in its path. On a direct hit, this ability does triple damage but it completely depletes the user's ki. In addition, the Sekiha Tenyoken requires a turn to charge before it can be released.
Support Techniques.
Afterimage:
Type: Support tech
Cost: 30% ki
Vod increases his speed to the point that he can appear to be in multiple places at once, making it confusing for an enemy attempting to strike him. This technique increases dodge by 50% for one round.
Crane School Technique - Gentle Fists:
Type: Support tech
Cost: 20% ki per post
The user channels ki though every strike, augmenting his physical attacks. Once activated, apply 1/2 of your NRG stat to your normal attack DMG. [Normal attack value + 1/2 NRG]
Utility Techniques
Flying - Using his ki, Vod is capable of carrying himself through the air. Costs no ki to use.
Energy Sensing - Vod can sense the ki of others, giving him the ability to ascertain HP, Ki, and stat totals of a person. This is passive and requires no ki to use.

Iconic Techniques
Technique 1; Solar Flare
Type: Support Tech
Cost: 30% ki
Description: Calling out the technique's name, you cause any and all light sources in the area to shine brightly, causing blindness to everyone in the thread. You must make a single tech attack. All who would have been struck by the attack are stunned for one post, unable to do anything but rub their eyes to try and get their vision back.
Technique 2: Dodon-pa
Type: Energy Tech
Cost: 20% ki
Description: You aim an extended index finger at the target, firing a thin beam of golden energy at them, sometimes calling out the attack's name.
Technique 3: Kikoho
Type: Energy Tech
Cost: 25% ki, 10% HP
Description: You make a triangular shape with two of your hands, aiming the opening between your hands at your opponent. You then fire a diamond shaped blast of energy at them at the cost of your own ki and vitality. This move is special in the sense that you can take the required ki out of your HP instead, paying 35% of your HP if you do not have enough ki to use this technique.
Technique 4: Super Dodon-pa
Type: Energy Tech
Cost: 50% ki
Description: The same as the Dodon-pa, but you fire a thicker beam out of your palm instead. This technique does double damage if it hits.
Technique 5: Shin Kikoho
Type: Energy tech
Cost: 50% ki, 25% HP
Description: The most powerful technique in the Crane School arsenal. It works exactly the same as a Kikoho, but it stuns the target on a six-sided die roll that is an even number, rendering them incapable of performing any action for one post.
